Music Coordinator, St Barnabas, Fendalton

Paid Minimum of 6 Hours/Week

The Parish of Fendalton is a large and diverse suburban parish with a clear vision for outreach, service and growth and with an active and committed laity. The parish vision is ‘Following Jesus and extending God’s love.’

We are seeking to appoint a Music Coordinator for the Lifestreams (10am Sunday) congregation to coordinate the contemporary band that leads the worship. Lifestreams has a strong children and youth programme with good numbers of families attending. The music is led by a number of volunteer musicians who enjoy playing regularly together.

The position could be combined with other part-time ministry roles so that the number of hours could be increased depending on skills, experience and interest. These possible additional roles include pastoral care and children’s ministry.

The Music Coordinator would need to be an experienced musician or singer and have the ability to lead a contemporary band. Included in the role is the selection of music, developing musicians, the pastoral care of band members and leading the weekly rehearsals. The position is for 6 hours per week, with some flexibility around timing. There is a requirement to run regular weekly rehearsals and to be present at most of the Lifestreams services.

If you are interested in the role of Music Coordinator or would like to know more about the additional roles, please contact the Vicar. There is flexibility in the way the position is structured.

Applications, which must include a CV, are requested by Friday 20 November, 2020, and are to be sent to mark@stbarnabas.org.nz. For an informal chat about the position and a copy of the Job Description please call Canon Mark Chamberlain on 0274327474 or for more information visit the parish website - www.stbarnabas.org.nz.
