DIRECTOR OF MUSIC

DIRECTOR OF MUSIC

St Michael and All Angels Church, Christchurch, New Zealand

St Michael’s is an Anglo-Catholic inner-city church with a longstanding music history. An established adult choir sings at Festivals, Sunday Masses and Evensongs. There is an active Young Voices programme for primary school aged children, who currently sing at mass monthly. The repertoire is traditional and supported by a three-manual Bevington Organ and a Bosendorfer Grand Piano.

Music ministry is well upheld by the clergy and parishioners. The advertised position involves direction of the parish music programme, including organ playing and accompaniment. Approximately 15 hours per week. If an applicant was a trained teacher, the opportunity to teach music in the adjacent St Michael’s Church School could be explored.

The successful applicant could look to begin in February 2026. We are RSCM affiliated. Remuneration to be negotiated with the right applicant.

For further information about the role please contact our vicar, Father Jordan Greatbatch at vicar@stmichaelandallangels.nz
