Vacancy for Priest/Vicar of the Holy Trinity Tauranga, Bay of Plenty, Diocese of Waiapu

Vacancy for Priest/Vicar of the Holy Trinity Tauranga, Bay of Plenty, Diocese of Waiapu

The Diocese of Waiapu is seeking a Priest/Vicar to lead the parish of Holy Trinity Tauranga as they explore “new ways of doing church”.
HTT is committed to a path of becoming a missional church by growing our connection to the community through service - taking the good news of Jesus to the people and creating disciples of those who seek to follow him.
The parish preference is for a long-term interregnum who has the change leadership skills and experience to take the church into a new stage of existence. The role will be reviewed after a three-year period.
The parish is able to support a full stipend. Accommodation would be available and/or an accommodation allowance on a pro-rata basis would be arranged with the successful applicant.
With the support of the congregation, vestry, the Diocese and beyond, you will lead a team that oversees and directs our whole ministry, but more importantly, you will be given space to experiment with new ways of doing church as we seek to grow our mission into the local community. As a godly, spirit filled, ordained missioner, you will have a passion to shape and lead us on a journey of exploring so far untried creative and inclusive models of Ministry.
We are seeking a person with the skills to:
• Facilitate the growth of strong connections between the community and our congregation.
• Empower the congregation with the skills and structures in the areas of personal evangelism and disciple making.
• Develop a strong culture of caring for each other and facilitating growth towards Christian maturity.
The role would be suitable for someone who:
• Has the appropriate character and convictions for a significant and challenging church leadership role, including theological training (degree level)
• Has experience, skills and motivation for the development and empowering of a large parish for mission (including very capable administration and lay ministry teams).
• Is experienced in innovation and new expressions of church.
• Has a clear understanding of their own ministry in terms of the fivefold ministries as outlined in Ephesians and,
• is skilled and enthusiast in developing, training, and working with lay leaders to develop their own ministry giftings and leadership roles.
• Has the ability to develop personal evangelism and lead local mission within the church.
• Is permission giving, confident in delegating and capable of developing ministry teams.
• Is willing to experiment, to try new ways of doing things and to discard that which no longer works, with the prime objective of growing the church’s long-term capability to undertake its mission.
• Has the ability to teach the Scriptures faithfully, compassionately, and practically, both in public and in private
• Has a passionate and prayerful desire to see lives transformed by the gospel
• Is either a member of, or able to provide signed consent to, the Covenant of the Anglican Community of St Mark, New Zealand
