Priest in Charge

Priest in Charge

St John’s Trentham, Upper Hutt

The Church of St. John the Evangelist in Trentham is looking for a Priest in charge whose energy, enthusiasm and talents can minister to us, serve our Upper Hutt community and enhance our parish life.

We are looking for somebody whose joy in their faith will inspire us to grow in our faith, and enthuse our parishioners to commit to the enhancement of parish life through prayer and service to ourselves, and our surrounding community.

Our values currently concentrate around Faith, Family and For Others. We are a congregation of around 78 regular worshippers, with 177 on our pastoral roll. We are keen to get started on our journey of being called again, by inspiring people to return to church or start their faith journey with us.

We are blessed in having rich resources in people and buildings.

Our church is a Category 2 Historic Place and is the oldest church in continuous use in the Anglican Diocese of Wellington. It is an exciting time for us as we are currently in the throes of refurbishment to upgrade and enable it to be used in multiple ways as a worship space.

At St John’s we are very team focussed and are passionate about maintaining our core beliefs, empowering and worshipping together. We have multiple outreaches and find fellowship in growing ourselves and serving others. The church is surrounded by mission fields in the form of schools of all levels that are culturally diverse. We have a strong desire to go wherever God calls us to be in our community, and seek transformation according to this.

We currently have a variety of services that cater for the young and old and celebrate our cultural diversity. We hold a strong desire to continue to grow and multiply our Church in an intergenerational way. Upper Hutt is an amazing place to live; with beautiful outdoor spaces on our doorstep and a vibrant community.

The position being offered is for a 0.5 FTE.

If you feel you are being called to our place and would like to be an instrumental part of this journey please see the St John’s Parish Profile on https://www.stjohnstrentham.org.nz

Applications, including a covering letter and a CV should be with the Bishop’s assistant Paul Carey (paul@anglicanmovement.nz) not later than 9 December 2022.
