Vacancy for Vicar of the Anglican Parish of Otumoetai, Bay of Plenty

 

Bishop Andrew Hedge is seeking to make an appointment of a priest as full time Vicar of the Parish of Otumoetai. The parish is set in the Bay of Plenty on the Otumoetai peninsula to the west of Tauranga City.  The parish has one worship centre at St John’s church with a well-maintained plant, the Oasis Opportunity Shop, three playgroups, Messy Church, a Toy Library and a wide range of parish and other community facing activities. The Otumoetai community is experiencing significant growth as part of the wide-spread and fast population growth in Tauranga, Mt Maunganui and Papmoa districts. The parish faces the challenges that are normative to congregations across the province and Bishop Andrew is seeking a priest who will engage with these challenges to lead the parish into the future and nurture the existing congregations through the coming years of challenge and change.

 

Bishop Andrew and the Parish are seeking to a find a priest who:

  • has energy to lead, care for and encourage parishioners
  • has and is developing their leadership skills with a willingness to develop a team
  • is a clear communicator, enabler and encourager with the ability to think and work laterally
  • is grounded in Anglican liturgy and adept at providing worship in traditional and contemporary settings
  • is committed to participating in bi-cultural partnerships in our 3-tikanga church
  • will encourage the parish in its engagement with the wider Otumoetai community
  • is of an open theological perspective
  • has a warm and friendly personality.
